Authorities in Turkiye have not yet reported any damage following a 5.5 earthquake today.
Officials say that quake was centered in the town of Niksar in central Turkiye.
It struck at a shallow depth of about 6 kilometers, with people in several provinces able to feel it.
Although officials didn't report any damage, local news reported that many residents were seen waiting in cars or in the streets despite the cold, afraid to return to homes.
In 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake killed tens of thousands in Turkey and Syria.
