Health officials have found 32 fruit and vegetable products with illegal pesticide residues during a recent safety inspection of supermarkets, big-box stores, and restaurants.
The Food and Drug Administration said today it tested more than 500 samples collected from across the island.
It says the 32 items that failed the inspection were found in several well-known retail chains and hot pot restaurants.
Officials have already issued fines totaling $180-thousand NT for six of the violations.
The FDA is encouraging consumers to buy seasonal produce and look for certified organic or traceable agricultural labels.
