Australia grants asylum to five Iranian soccer players

Now turning to international news...

Australia has granted asylum to five soccer players who were in the country
for a tournament when the US and Israel began attacking Iran.

The players were transported from their hotel to what officials called a safe
location by federal police early this morning.

When they arrived at that location, officials finalized the processing of
their humanitarian visas.

Today's announcement follows days of urging by Iranian groups in Australia
and by the US for the Australian government to help the women.

The five players had not spoken publicly about a desite to claim asylum.

An official sqaud list named 26 players, and officials say that the offer of
asylum was extended to all of them.
