Guangfu chief posts bail

The chief of Hualien's Guangfu township has posted bail of one million NT.

The Hualien District Court ruled that Lin Qing Shui must also wear an ankle
monitor and has been placed under residence restrictions.

He was indicted yesterday on charges of causing a catastrophe through
dereliction of duty and negligent manslaughter over last year's Matai'an
Creek barrier lake breach.

The Matai'an disaster killed at least 19 people, and prosecutors are seeking
a maximum prison sentence of 10 years for Lin.
