The governor of Guam has signed a sister-city agreement with Kaohsiung on her visit to Taiwan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says, Lourdes A Guerrero traveled to Kaohsiung recently to sign the agreement with Mayor Chen Qi Mai.
She also attemded a welcome banquet hosted by MOFA, during which she said the sister-city partnership between Guam and Kaohsiung aims to strengthen ties through "city diplomacy."
Guerrero also noted that her administration is expanding bilateral cooperation with Taiwan in areas like health care, tourism, and Indigenous affairs.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung stated that coopertation between Taiwan and Guam may expand in the future to areas like AI in agriculture, medical services, education and cultural exchanges to improve the well-being of people in both Guam and Taiwan.
This marks the governor's second trip to Taiwan since taking office in 2019, the first being last May.
