Taichung mayor heads to US for exchange

Taichung Mayor Lu Xiu Yan is heading to the US Wednesday in hopes of
deepening city-to-city exchange.

The mayor will spend most of her week and a half trip in the US east,
visiting cities like Boston, New York, and DC...

as well as Seattle over on the west coast.

She will visit US lawmakers as well as meet with local Taiwanese community
members and business leaders.

Lu says, she aims to deepen the friendship between Taiwan and the US.

This comes as the Taichung mayor is widely seen as a strong candidate for the
KMT's nomination for the presidency in 2028.

She expressed her thanks for the US' invitation, and said that the trip was a
good opportunity for her to make Taiwan's voice heard.
