DPP hails Premier's WBC attendance as breakthrough for Japan-Taiwan ties

The DPP is touting Premier Zhuo Rong Tai's visit to Tokyo for the World Baseball Classic as a "breakthrough" for Taiwan/Japan ties.
That's after the opposition raised concerns that Zhuo's trip was paid for with taxpayer money... claims which Zhuo disputed.
At the same time, China also lodged a complaint with the Japanese embassy in the country over the matter.
But DPP Legislative Caucus Secretary General Zhuang Rui Xiong says, regardless of if Zhuo made the trip as a private citizen or as premier, it's a big win for relations between Taiwan and Japan.
Zhuo went to Japan on Saturday to watch the game between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.
On his trip, he also paid a visit to the local Taiwanese representative, Li Yi Yang along with Sports Minister Lee Yang.
