Renewable Energy Group Urges Greater Use of Energy Storage

The Taiwan Renewable Energy Association is recommending greater use of energy
storage systems ...

... amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

The group highlights Taiwan's heavy dependence on natural gas (and possible
supply fluctuations) ...

... noting that gas-fired plants currently provide nearly half of the
island’s electricity and consume 85 percent of all imported natural gas.

The association argues energy storage can reduce the load on gas-fired
generators and slow gas consumption.

It says this shift would not only slow the depletion of fuel reserves but
also strengthen the long-term resilience of the power grid against global
supply shocks.
