32 Taichung KMT workers get suspended sentences for forgery
Posted on 2026-03-06 13:07:15
32 KMT party workers have been handed suspended sentences for their roles in
a forgery scheme for a recall campaign.

The Taichung District Court handed down the heaviest sentence to the city's
KMT office head, at nearly 2 years' prison time with suspended 5 year
sentences.

Another 30 party workers were handed suspended sentences.

The two lead office workers were also handed 2 year deprivation of civil
rights and ordered to pay 250 to 300,000 NT in fines.

The 32 defendants were charged for violating the Personal Data Protection
Act.

The sentences can still be appealed.

Prosecutors originally indicted 34 party workers for their roles in the
scheme, which forged the personal information of over 4200 people in order to
support recall campaigns.

2 were not prosecuted.
