The Mainland Affairs Council says, TPP Lawmaker Li Zhen Xiu does not possess the qualifications to be a lawmaker.
Chairman Qiu Chui Zheng says that Li did not turn in her cancellation of Chinese citizenship until only a year ago.
Qiu adds, according to the Cross-Strait Relations Act, that makes her unqualified to run for public office.
He says, the MAC will transfer the relevant materials to the Central Election Commission, in hopes that they proceed according to law.
Article 21 of the Cross-Strait Relations Act states that one must have held Taiwanese household registration for at least 10 years in order to register as a candidate for public office.
Qiu notes that the act was amended in 2004 to stipulate that former Chinese citizens who get Taiwanese household registration before 2004- as Li did- must return proof of having canceled Chinese citizenship within 6 months.
