The American Institute in Taiwan says the U-S Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Casey Mace is visiting Taiwan to support Taiwan's international participation.
Mace is set to meet with senior government officials and industry leaders to discuss "issues related to APEC, advancing US-Taiwan economic cooperation, and showing support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in the international community.
A-I-T says the talks will have a focus on supply chain resilience, AI, and the digital economy.
Mace also heads the Office of Economic Policy in the State Department's Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
Mace's visit to Taiwan comes as China is hosting the 2026 APEC meetings in Shenzhen.
The government has previously expressed concerns over its participation in this year's APEC meetings after China's foreign ministry said last year that it would fulfill its obligations as host as long as Taipei complies with the "one China" principle.
However, Taiwan's APEC senior official said earlier this year that Taiwan's delegation successfully visited Shenzhen for an APEC-related event in late 2025 and did not receive any treatment that downgraded Taiwan's sovereignty.
