NSYSU Develops New Drug Synthesis Technique Targeting Antibiotic Resistance

A research team from National Sun Yat-sen University has developed a new drug-making technique that could help slow antibiotic resistance.
Researchers say the overuse of antibiotics has allowed bacteria to evolve and survive treatments that once worked.
They say their new method — described as a "one-pot cooking" approach — allows multiple ingredients to be mixed in a single step, rather than building molecules one stage at a time.
By simply swapping one component, the scientists can quickly create new potential treatments.
The researchers hope the technique will speed up drug discovery and shorten the time needed to develop new medicines.
