Taichung mayor to visit the US next month

Taichung Mayor Lu Xiu-yan confirmed today that she's planning to spend 11
days in the United States starting March 11.

Lu told reporters at an event to mark 228 Peace Memorial Day that as
Taichung's mayor and as a citizen of the Republic of China, she should take
any opportunity to help progress country-to-country relations.

Tariffs and military procurement are among the topics she hopes she will
discuss there.

Lu said she hasn't been seen in public the past few days because she's been
attending back-to-back meetings -- not only to plan the US trip but also do
deal with a busy schedule upon her return to Taiwan. That includes
officiating at the official opening of the Taichung International Convention
and Exhibition Center
