The Ministry of the Interior says the indigenous population reached 629,000 at the end of 2025, a 2.9% increase compared with a year earlier.
The indigenous population now accounts for 2.7 percent of Taiwan's overall population.
The Amis population was 235,000 at the end of last year, accounting for more than a third of the indigenous total, followed by the Baiwan at 114,000 and the Atayal at 103,000.
Those three groups accounted for 72% of Taiwan's indigenous population, with 13 other officially recognized groups accounting for the remainder.
The median age of indigenous people in Taiwan was 34.9 years -- below the 45.7 years of the general population -- reflecting their continued growth against the backdrop of a "super-aging" general population.
