Hegseth labels Anthropic a 'supply chain risk,' which the company challenges

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has designated Anthropic as a supply chain
risk, a move that could prevent US military vendors from working with the
company.

Meanwhile, President Trump has ordered all US agencies to stop using
Anthropic technology after the company's unusually public dispute with the
Pentagon over AI safety.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said his company "cannot in good conscience
accede" to the Defense Department's requirement that it allow unrestricted
military use of its AI technology.

Trump's order came just before a deadline for Anthropic to cooperate.

Anthropic says it will challenge Hegseth's label in court. It said that
"designating Anthropic as a supply chain risk would be an unprecedented
action — one historically reserved for US adversaries, never before publicly
applied to an American company.”
