Deadline approaches as MND hopes for speedy signing of letters of offer for

Defense Minister Wellington Koo says, he's hoping for a swift signing of
Letters of Offer and Acceptance for three items of arms purchases from the
US.

Those offers are set to expire mid-March.

Koo says, he hopes the legislature will quickly authorize the Defense
ministry to sign the letters even if the special defense bill cannot be
passed before the deadline.

The Executive Yuan in November proposed a special defense budget bill worth
1.25 trillion NT for defense spending over the next 8 years, and those 3
items are part of the bill.

It won't be reviewed by the Legislature until March 6th.
