The National Freeway Bureau says there were more than 20 incidents on national freeways by late morning today.
It says the crashes caused backups and slowed overall traffic flow.
The bureau says morning congestion was seen on parts of Freeway 1, Freeway 3, and Freeway 5, while other stretches were mostly normal.
It says total traffic volumes so far remain within the day's expected range.
For the afternoon, the bureau warns several key sections are likely to clog up, including northbound stretches of Freeway 1 and Freeway 3 and the northbound Freeway 5 run toward Pinglin.
It also flags some westbound routes in central and southern Taiwan as congestion-prone.
The bureau urges drivers to check real-time conditions on the Freeway 1968 site and app.
