Taiwan's office in Seattle says it has donated $200-thousand US dollars to
support flood recovery in Washington state.

The donation follows historic flooding sparked by heavy rain last December
that forced large-scale evacuations.

State officials thanked Taiwan for its kindness and friendship.

The funds were presented to the American Red Cross Northwest Region to help
coordinate relief work.

Taiwan's representative, Lin Mei-cheng (???), said Taiwan understands
disaster recovery and the need for community support.

She said Taiwan and Washington state have close ties in trade, education,
technology, and culture, with a growing Taiwanese community in the state.

The Seattle chapter of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation also provided supplies
and raised additional support for victims.

The Seattle office says the donation reflects Taiwan-U.S. cooperation based
on shared democratic values and humanitarian partnership.
