The medical team responsible for the care of the Penghu magistrate says, Chen
Guang-fu's condition is improving following emergency surgery.

That's after Chen was flown from Penghu to Kaohsiung with a brain bleed
earlier this week.

The 70 year pold Chen lost his footing while walking downstairs and hit his
head on the ground on Tuesday during a public event in Penghu.

After his heart stopped and he lost consciousness, Chen was rushed to the
National Defense Medical University Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu
Branch.

In accordance with his family's wishes, Chen was later transferred to
Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital.

Doctors there says that Chen's condition has improved following emergency
surgery.

He is now in a postoperative intensive care unit.

Chen is expected to start his rehabilitation soon.

A statement was also posted on Chen's Facebook page yesterday thanking his
friends, supporters, and medical team.
