Miaoli Dead Pigs Test NEGATIVE for ASF

Health officials in Miaoli County have confirmed that four pigs found dead at
a local livestock farm did not have African Swine Fever.

The deaths occurred at a farm in Houlong Township, and county officials say
test results came back negative for all major animal diseases, after a report
of the deaths caused public concern.

The county says the pigs died from stress and crowding during the process of
being loaded onto a truck for transport.

Officials also visited four nearby farms and found no other unusual deaths.

Disinfection efforts were increased throughout the surrounding area as a
precaution.
