Weather officials say Taiwan will enjoy spring-like warmth until the day before Lunar New Year’s Eve, followed by a wet and cool shift for the north and east during the holiday.
The CWA says a weather front and northeast monsoon will move in, bringing rain to the north and east on Lunar New Year’s Eve and the first day of the Lunar New Year, with temepratures in those regiosn expected to drop by 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Central and southern Taiwan will remain partly cloudy to sunny, though temperatures there will also dip slightly by 2 to 4 degrees.
Forecasters say the weather is expected to warm up again starting on the third day of the Lunar New Year as the monsoon weakens, but the public should be ready for large temperature swings between day and night.
