The Kaohsiung City Department of Health says a K-F-C branch in the Nanzih District is facing a fine of up to 200-million N-T after a customer found a triple A sized battery in an egg tart.
City health officials reviewed a social media post on which the customer shared photos and a video of the battery embedded in the egg tart.
The Health department said it sent personnel to the store to conduct an inspection and the branch's operator confirmed that a battery had fallen into the product after a timer used by an employee was dropped.
The department says the branch operator also admitted there were "flaws" in the preparation process and the employee failed to follow standard operating procedures by not discarding the affected batch.
Along with a possible fine of up 200-million N-T, the K-F-C branch could also face formal charges, as the case has been referred to prosecutors.
