Taipei Lunar New Year Market to go car-free and enforce smoking ban
Posted on 2026-01-31 12:45:13
Taipei police say the Lunar New Year Market runs from today through Feb. 15th
around Dihua Street.

They say Dihua Street Section 1 will be closed to cars every day from noon to
midnight.

Police say nearby intersections will have temporary one-way controls and turn
restrictions.

They also say Huayin Street and an entrance area near Taipei Main Station
will close to vehicles from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Feb. 15th.

The city health department says smoking will be banned across the market
area, with fines from $2-thousand to $10-thousand NT.

It says a temporary smoking area is set up near Gate No. 5 of Dadaocheng
Wharf.

Transit officials say some buses will skip the Dihua Street stop and service
will increase at busy times.
