Ride-hailing platform Bolt has been fined $30-thousand NT after a passenger died in a case involving one of its drivers.
Police say a 46-year-old driver surnamed Lin (?) dropped off a 25-year-old passenger surnamed Wen (?) on Provincial Highway 64 toward New Taipei's Banqiao District.
Wen was later hit and killed by passing vehicles, and police say the case is being investigated.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications says fleet operators must take management responsibility, and licenses can be revoked in serious cases.
Officials say Lin may also face a separate fine for leaving a passenger on an expressway.
Transport authorities say Bolt did not properly verify the driver, and that he was taking orders from multiple platforms against regulations.
Bolt says it has suspended Lin and that further action will depend on the judicial investigation.
