2025 growth hits 15-year high on export and AI boom
Posted on 2026-01-31 10:55:15
Taiwan's statistics agency says GDP grew an estimated 8.63-percent in 2025,
the strongest in 15 years.
The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics links the surge
to exports and strong demand for AI applications.
It says fourth-quarter growth reached an estimated 12.68-percent, lifting the
full-year result above earlier forecasts.
Officials say private consumption and investment also helped, backed by a
recovering car market and active stock trading.
The agency says Taiwan?s per-person GDP rose to $39-thousand-477 US dollars,
close to $40-thousand dollars.
It adds that a new 2026 growth forecast will be released on Feb. 13th.
