Nvidia CEO Rejects Claims Taiwan Chip Production Forcibly Moving to U.S.
Posted on 2026-01-29 18:05:13
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is rejecting claims that Taiwan's chip industry is being forcibly shifted to the U-S.
Accoring to Huang, reports suggesting that 40 percent of Taiwan's semiconductor production will move to America are misleading.
He says TSMC's planned expansion represents new capacity — not a transfer — with added production expected to come online in Taiwan, the U-S, Europe, and Japan over the next decade.
Huang calls the move a huge victory for TSMC, boosting manufacturing resilience while meeting global demand.
He also warned that rapid growth in AI is driving major energy challenges, stressing the need for reliable power supplies in Taiwan, the U-S, and worldwide amid a new industrial revolution.
In addition, he praised the new trade deal between Taiwan and the U-S, calling it "fantastic".
Huang is currently visiting Taiwan and is expected to attend Nvidia's year-end banquet tomorrow ... followed by dinner with executives from key regional AI supply chain partners.
