The United States is praising Taiwan as a "vital partner" as both sides
signed a new joint statement endorsing "the principles of mutual prosperity,
technological progress, and supply chain resilience."

The signing of the statement known as the "Pax Silica Declaration" took place
in Washington DC, as representatives from both sides met during the sixth
Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue.

Present at the event were U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs
Jacob Helberg and Economics Minister Kung Ming-hsin.

In a separate statement, Gong said both sides agreed that peace and stability
across the Taiwan Strait are "crucial to global economic security and
prosperity."

He added Taiwan and the U.S. also discussed undersea cable security,
low-Earth-orbit satellite cooperation and the training of high-tech talent.

The Partnership Dialogue is a high-level forum begun during the first Trump
administration.
