The Shilin District Court has rejected a damages claim filed by 13 foreign nationals against a Taiwan company linked by media reports to Israeli modified pagers that exploded in Lebanon in 2024.
The court has ruled that the plaintiffs failed to complete required legal authorization procedures.
The case stems from a series of pager blasts on September of 2024, involving devices used by members of Hezbollah.
The explosions killed and injured multiple people, including civilians.
The use of the exploding pagers drew international attention after reports cited anonymous officials as saying the devices allegedly had "Made in Taiwan" markings and were produced by Taiwan-based Gold Apollo.
The court pointed to evidence which shows that Gold Apollo had never manufactured the model of pager used and the devices involved were produced, traded and shipped overseas by an international corporation, Frontier Group Entity.
Prosecutors has said the presence of the Gold Apollo trademark on the pagers was due to a memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 between the company and Frontier Group Entity.
Prosecutors closed their investigation into the case in November of 2024 - saying no evidence was found linking Taiwanese firms or individuals to the explosions.
