Industrial output hits record in 2025 on AI demand
Posted on 2026-01-24 12:46:13
The Ministry of Economic Affairs says industrial production reached a new
record in 2025, rising 16.7% from a year earlier.

The ministry says AI applications, high-performance computing, and cloud
services drove higher output in tech industries.

Electronics components output rose 24.7% in 2025, and the computer and
optoelectronics sector jumped 56.4%.

In December, industrial production rose 21.6% from a year earlier, marking 22
straight months of growth.

The MOEA says demand for wafers, chip services, memory, servers, and
inspection equipment lifted December output.

Old economy sectors were mixed, with declines in base metals, chemicals, and
auto parts, while machinery edged up.

The MOEA expects January manufacturing output to stay strong, helped by AI
demand and a low base last year.
