Opposition Coalition Blocks Military Spending Bill Again

Opposition lawmakers have blocked a major military spending bill for the eighth time.
The KMT and TPP, who have majority in the Legislative Yuan, stopped the bill from moving to a committee for review, as the latest in a series of blocks that began in December.
Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu called for a vote after political parties failed to reach an agreement during a meeting this morning.
The Cabinet passed the draft November last year, for the eight-year plan worth $1.25 trillion NT, to strengthen the nation's defense and asymmetric combat capabilities.
Opposition parties say they are blocking the measure because they want military pay raises included in the national budget.
