The Aif Force Command Headquarters says a salvage team will be dispatched to retrieve the Flight Data Recorder from the F-16V fighter jet that disappeared off Hualien last week.
The black box was located after Defense Minister Wellington Koo annouced on Monday that intermittent signals had been detected in a search area.
Reports say the Air Force is hoping to tap Singaporean or Japanese salvage companies to help with the retrieval mission, since Taiwan firms are unable to carry out deep-sea salvage operations.
Operations searching for the aircraft' pilot, Captain Hsin Po-yi are on-going.
The F-16V went missing on the evening of January 6 just over an hour after taking off from the Hualien Air Base on a routine nighttime training mission.
The Air Force is still investigating the possible cause of the incident, but reports have been saying the aircrafts modular mission computer may have malfunctioned, resulting in the pilot suffering spatial disorientation.
