The People's Liberation Army announced today the start of a new round of joint exercises around Taiwan by their army, navy, and air force.
Chinese officials say that the exercises are meant to act as a "stern warning to 'Taiwanese Independence' separatist forces."
That's as Japanese media is reporting that the drills may be aimed at warning Japan against further supporting Taiwan...
following comments made by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi seen as pro-Taiwan.
Meanwhile Chinese officials also say that they will conduct live-fire drills in the waters and airspace around Taiwan tomorrow, warning vessels and aircraft not to enter the drill areas.
Those areas will include the sea and airspace near Keelung, Taitung, Pingtung, Penghu, and Taoyuan.
