The KMT and TPP legislative caucuses say that the legislature will hold an impeachment vote in May against President Lai Ching-te.
The legislature will invite Lai to a review session for answering lawmakers' questions on January 21st and 22nd after holding 2 public hearings to discuss the motion.
A second review is slated for May 13th and 14th, before an impeanchment vote at the Legislative plenary session on May 19th.
TPP chair Huang Kuo-chang criticized Lai for refusing to promulgate amendments to the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures passed by the legislature in November.
Meanwhile DPP Caucus Secretary general Zhogn Jia Bin slammed the opposition for using impeachment as a prop, saying that according to law, the petition to impeach the president by the Legislative Yuan must be passed by two thirds of the legislature.
That means that 76 lawmakers would need to vote yes, exceeding the blue camp's total 62 seats.
After such a petition is passed by the legislature, it would then be sent to the Constitutional Court for the final decision.
