The Coast Guard Administration says it dispatched three patrol frigates to shadow and monitor Chinese coast guard vessels after they entered restricted waters off of Kinmen.
The three Chinese vessels were detected sailing in formation outside restricted waters west of Dadan Island before entering Kinmen's restricted waters.
The administration says it's patrol frigates sailed alongside each of the Chinese vessels and prevented them from further advancing into water around the outlying island.
The administration also says it broadcast radio messages in Chinese and English -- informing the Chinese vessels that their actions severely undermined regional peace and stability, posed a risk to navigation safety, and demanded that they leave the area immediately.
The Chinese coast guard vessels left the area some two hours after first being sighted.
The Coast Guard Administration has condemned the incursion -- describing it as being unprofessional and irrational.
