An individual was rushed for emergency treatment after being injured by a
smoke grenade thrown in Taipei Main Station MRT station on Friday afternoon,
according to the Taipei Fire Department.
The victim was a 57-year-old male, whose heart stopped beating at the scene.
Currently, no arrests have been made and police provided no information as to
the identity of the perpetrator.
Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. said in a statement that smoke from the incident
drifted onto station platforms, prompting trains to temporarily pass through
without stopping.
Normal operations resumed after the smoke dissipated.
