Hsinchu mayor to return to work tomorrow following suspension

Hsinchu mayor Gao Hong An will return to work tomorrow, as the Ministry of
the Interior has approved her reinstatement request.

That's after the Taiwan High Court acquitted her of corruption charges, after
she was suspended last year for violating the anti-corruption act.

However, she was still found guilty of forgery charges, which carry a 6
months prison sentence that can be commuted to fines.

Both Gao herself and prosecutors are still able to appeal the high court's
ruling.
