High Court Rejects Ko Wen-je's Request for Live Trial Broadcast

The High Court has rejected an appeal by former Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je
(柯文哲) to broadcast his court case live.

Ko is among 11 defendants indicted in a corruption case linked to a property
development deal.

He had argued that live coverage would allow him to explain his position
directly to the public.

The court ruled that only a delayed broadcast of the final ruling is
permitted under current regulations.

Oral arguments in the case are scheduled to begin on Monday.

Ko faces up to 28.5 years in prison over alleged bribery and embezzlement
charges.
