No. 3 Nuclear Plant Restart Possible by 2028

The Nuclear Safety Commission says restarting the No. Three Nuclear Plant by
2028 is possible, but only if TaiPower meets key conditions.

NSC Chair Chen Ming-jen (陳明真) told lawmakers that TaiPower needs to submit
a full application, answer all review questions fast, and pass inspections
without needing to replace any major parts.

This follows comments from Economics Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫), who
recently suggested the plant could resume operations as early as 2028 if
everything goes smoothly.

The state-run company is expected to submit a reactivation plan for Nuclear
Power Plants No. 2 and No. 3 to the N-S-C in March.



The NSC says that if the review process goes smoothly, it will grant the
license for the plants to resume operations.
