The Nuclear Safety Commission says restarting the No. Three Nuclear Plant by 2028 is possible, but only if TaiPower meets key conditions.
NSC Chair Chen Ming-jen (陳明真) told lawmakers that TaiPower needs to submit a full application, answer all review questions fast, and pass inspections without needing to replace any major parts.
This follows comments from Economics Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫), who recently suggested the plant could resume operations as early as 2028 if everything goes smoothly.
The state-run company is expected to submit a reactivation plan for Nuclear Power Plants No. 2 and No. 3 to the N-S-C in March.
The NSC says that if the review process goes smoothly, it will grant the license for the plants to resume operations.
