Taiwan Prosecutors Seek Tougher Sentence in Upskirting Case

Prosecutors in Taipei are pushing for an 18-month prison term for a Japanese
man over repeated upskirting offenses.

They say Takanori Sasaki showed 'no remorse' after two similar incidents
earlier this year.

Sasaki was first caught in June using a GoPro to film under a woman’s skirt
in a Taipei mall.

He was sentenced to four months, but appealed and was barred from leaving
Taiwan until the ruling was finalized in late November.

Despite the travel ban, he was arrested again in August for another alleged
upskirting incident in the Ximending area.

That case was indicted in November and is now before the Taipei District
Court.

Sasaki had been working for the Iwate Prefectural Government in Japan at the
time.

The Shilin District Court will now review prosecutors' request for at least a
year and a half in prison.
