The Ministry of Education is expanding funding for schools that offer local language and culture courses during summer breaks.
The ministry announced today that starting in 2026, the maximum subsidy for the local language and cultural activities courses under its Summer Learning Program will be increased from $90-thousand to $100-thousand NT per class
The Ministry also provides additional support for students in remote and offshore schools, with an extra subsidy of $30-thousand NT per class for lunch fees.
Officials say the program, which has been running for 11 years, has benefited over 215-thousand students by offering engaging and activity-based learning during summer vacation.
It encourages schools to integrate local culture into their curriculum, and the ministry sasy the funding increase aims to encourage more schools to apply for the program, which strengthens students' interest in and identity with their local culture and hometown.
