The Mainland Affairs Council says it's "dissatisfied" with the way Beijing repatriated 10 Taiwan nationals who had completed prison sentences in China for fraud - arguing the case was not handled in line with a still-effective cross-strait agreement.
Council spokesman Liang Wen-chieh said the recent move deviated from past practice because of the short notice given by China.
The statement follows reports that the 10 Taiwan nationals, who involved in fraud in Cambodia, were arrested and jailed in China, and after completing their sentences, they were deported on Wednesday and entered Kinmen from Xiamen via the "mini-three-links" ferry route.
Reports citing an anonymous source, say Chinese authorities did not give Kinmen prior notice, and Taiwanese immigration officers and police were deployed after the shipping company flagged a potential issue with some of the passengers.
Most of the 10 arrivals did not have any identification documents when they arrived in Kinmen.
