The Executive Yuan is urging lawmakers to review the cabinet's own version of
amendments to the law on how tax revenues are shared between central and
local governments.

... And it says it will turn to constitutional remedies if needed.

Last month, the Legislative Yuan passed its own version.

Then, on November 27th, the cabinet filed a reconsideration request, saying
it needed more time and space for lawmakers to study its draft.

The Legislature must handle this request within fifteen days.

Government officials warn that the Legislature's version would weaken the
central government's ability to adjust funding for local governments ... and
could push borrowing up by an extra 264 billion NT ... violating debt rules.

Lawmakers will review the request in a full committee tomorrow, followed by a
roll-call vote in the chamber.

Given the political makeup of the Legislature, the reconsideration is
unlikely to pass.
