Opposition lawmakers block reading of special act for defense

Opposition KMT and TPP lawmakers have voted to table a review of the 1.25-trillion-NT defense special budget.
That means, it will not be on the agenda at the Legislative plenary session on Friday, and so cannot be turned over to legislative committees for review.
The opposition parties made the vote amidst loud protests from DPP lawmakers.
The TPP stated that they supported the KMT's position of tabling the bill.
DPP caucus leaders slammed the opposition parties for, they say, being unwilling to discuss the content of the bill or explain the reasons for blocking it.
Also blocked by the blue and white camps were the Executive Yuan’s draft amendments to the Allocation of Government Revenues Act, and proposals to regulate lawmakers' travel to China brought forward by DPP lawmaker Puma Shen.
