The Executive Yuan says it will work closely with allied countries and international organizations to fight back against China's expanding cross-border repression.
This follows President Lai Ching-te's call to build a "comprehensive national security plan" aimed at safeguarding the island's democracy and resisting China's threats.
Cabinet spokesperson Li Hui-chih says the government is instructing agencies to strengthen laws, close loopholes, and impose tough penalties on anyone in Taiwan who assists Chinese authorities in carrying out repressive activities.
Clearer procedures are also being prepared to help Taiwanese abroad who face intimidation or legal pressure from China.
The Mainland Affairs Council stressed that Beijing has no jurisdiction over Taiwan and that its actions violate international law.
