At least 44 reported killed in Hong Kong high-rise residential housing

In international news,

At least 44 people have been killed in a major fire engulfing a densely
populated high-rise residential housing complex in Hong Kong's Tai Po
District.

Authorities say 279 other people remain missing.

Three construction company executives are under arrest on suspicion of gross
negligence connected to substandard materials that may have allowed the fire
to spread quickly

The housing complex consisted of eight buildings with almost 2,000 apartments
housing about 4,800 residents.

The fire sent up a column of flames and thick smoke as it spread quickly on
bamboo scaffolding that had been set up around the buildings.
