Elderly Passenger Falls Onto HSR Tracks in Banqiao

An elderly woman fell onto the tracks at the High Speed Rail?s Banqiao
Station this afternoon.

Staff say she appeared to lose her balance on the southbound platform around
2 p.m.

Workers quickly hit the emergency stop button and moved her to a safe area
before helping her back onto the platform.

She was conscious and had no obvious external injuries and was taken to
hospital for treatment.

High Speed Rail officials say the incident did not delay any trains.

They also say Banqiao and Hsinchu stations are scheduled to get platform
screen doors by December 2026.
