The New Taipei City Health Department announced today that 4,600 eggs from the Wenya Livestock Farm in Changhua were sold to consumers in the Xinzhuang District.
These are eggs that were delivered after the farm was placed under movement control for repeated test results showing excessive levels of the pesticide fipronil.
City officials say after the farm was placed under movement restrictions, a Changhua egg distributor shipped 10-thousand Wenya eggs to two retailors in New Taipei City's Xinzhuang District.
The offiicals say that these specific eggs are not the batches confirmed to be contaminated with fipronil, but the department has pre-emptively ordered the products off the shelves.
The department says it was able to intercept 5-thousand-400 eggs, but around 4,600 eggs, were sold to mainly individual consumers.
Both Xinzhuang retailors were ordered to offer refunds or exchanges to any consumer with concerns.
