Kaohsiung Fried Chicken Festival Draws 120,000 Visitors

Kaohsiung's Fried Chicken Festival drew massive crowds this year — and
delivered a big boost to local businesses.

The event drew more than 120-thousand people over the two days it was held at
Dream Plaza next to the Far Eastern Department Store ... including tourists
from across Asia.

According to the city's Department of Tourism, sales at the department store
rose by 40 to 50 percent compared with the same period last year, and foot
traffic jumped more than 80 percent.

Shops in nearby commercial districts also reported a 50-percent increase in
customers and revenue.

Officials say the festival has become one of Taiwan's most anticipated food
events.

Kaohsiung will continue its year-end tourism push with more major events...

... including the Kaohsiung Coffee Festival in late November, and Christmas
and New Year celebrations throughout December.
