Health Minister Shi Chong Liang says authorities will expand random testing of eggs at markets, and the main target is eggs with the printed code "C", which means eggs from cage-raised chickens.
The move comes after eggs contaminated with the pesticide residues of Fipronil were detected at a farm in Changhua.
The Minister has declined to disclose details of the testing so as to prevent sellers from preparing for inspection.
He only said the Food and Drug Administration will consult local agricultural authorities to decide on sampling methods and sample sizes based on the level of risk in each county or city.
The Minister says the measures are meant to ensure that no more Fipronil-contaminated eggs will be on the market.
