Kaohsiung on high alert for Typhoon Fung Wong

Taipower's Kaohsiung branch says it's on high alert as Typhoon Fung Wong
approaches the country, with 224 engineers, 41 engineering vehicles, 25
cranes and other equipment ready to deal with storm contingencies.

The typhoon is expected to reach Taiwan around midweek. The Central Weather
Administration is currently projecting it to be approaching the island from
the south.

Taipower is urging the public, especially in southern Taiwan, to start taking
precautions as early as possible ... and to report any outages as they occur
including by calling 1911 if the internet becomes unavailable.
